New Beginnings is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit NO KILL Canine Rescue. We are an all-volunteer rescue and work very hard for our dogs and for the loving forever families that we expect for them.
A lot goes into getting a dog prepared for a forever home. Our age-appropriate dogs are fully vetted, spay/neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and heartworm tested
(if they test positive, we treat them for heartworm using the “slow kill” method)
Many have had other medical issues that we have addressed. Many others have had to be boarded while awaiting transport to us from other states prior to being ready for adoption. This is all very costly for us, but the dogs deserve
the best chance at a “New Beginning” that we can possibly give them.
This fee helps us to recoup some of the funds that we have involved in saving each and every one of these wonderful companion animals from high kill shelters across the country. NBSR gets no outside funding, we are all volunteers who not only donate our time, we donate resources and our own money as well.
*PUPPY: 8 Weeks to 12 Months is $425 (unless otherwise indicated on the dogs listing) All puppies will have all age-appropriate vaccinations, worming and other puppy needs. Puppies, 12 months and under are adopted out on a spay/neuter contract (you are responsible for getting your puppy spay/neutered at 12 months of age, we MUST have proof of alter from your vet and we DO check with your vet.
* ADOLESCENT: 13 months to 3 Years $375 (unless otherwise indicated on the dog's listing) All dogs over 12 months are spay/neutered, updated on core vaccinations including yearly rabies vaccination, heartworm tested (if your dog tested positive for heartworms, we will have treated them with the slow kill method used by many rescues (and some veterinarians), it will take longer for your dog to test negative on a heartworm test, which is why it's called the "slow kill" method).
You are welcome to talk to your vet about using a different method for your adopted dog.
* ADULT: 4 Years to 5 Years is $275 (unless otherwise indicated on the dogs listing) for an adult of age (can vary according to training). All adults are spayed/neutered, updated on all vaccinations including rabies, heartworm tested (if your dog tested positive for heartworms, we will have treated them with the slow kill method used by many rescues (and some veterinarians), it takes longer for your dog to test negative on a heartworm test (which is why it's called the "slow kill" method), but we feel that it's much easier on and safer for the dogs. You are welcome to talk to your vet about using a different method for your adopted dog.
* SENIOR: 6 Years and up is $175 (unless otherwise indicated on the dogs listing) All adults are spayed/neutered, updated on all vaccinations including rabies, heartworm tested (if your dog tested positive for heartworms, we will have treated them with the slow kill method used by many rescues (and some veterinarians), it takes longer for your dog to test negative on a heartworm test (which is why it's called the "slow kill" method), but we feel that it's much easier on and safer for the dogs.
You are welcome to talk to your vet about using a different method for your adopted dog.
We worm all of the dogs coming in and on a regular basis here, but you may want to worm your dog again after s/he comes to live with you to ensure none of those pesky critters remain. We also heartworm test every dog over 6 months old and if they test positive for heartworms, we treat them with the slow kill method when needed. Your new dog will have been started on monthly Heartworm preventative. We do everything that we can to make sure the dogs are physically and mentally ready for their new homes before adoption, but we are all only human and can't always catch everything....so if we happen to miss something, we most sincerely apologize.
The adoption fees help to defray a portion of the costs involved, which enables us to continue rescuing forgotten, neglected, unwanted, and abused dogs, working to get to know them and readying them for their very own New Beginning with your family.
